A rather flat photographic reference was used as a basis for this painting so I added a touch of drama with the sunset. The simple palette of complementary colours of orange and blue – with a dash of purple add an abstract quality to the painting too.

I have loved the square format for many years because of its dynamism too. A format often used more in abstract art rather than the figurative.

Juxtaposition is such a joy!
