Commission a Painting
Neil McBride is a British painter of crowd scenes and atmospheric landscapes, working in acrylic on canvas from his studio in North Yorkshire. If you can't find the right painting among his available originals, you can commission one.
How commissions work
Neil takes open-brief commissions: you choose the subject and size, and he paints it in one of the styles you already see on this site. He doesn't copy other artists' work or paint to a tightly fixed brief, because his paintings are strongest when he has room to respond to the subject. That freedom is what gives a McBride its energy, and it's what you're commissioning.
Good starting points include a crowd at a place or event that means something to you, a landscape you know well, or a painting for a particular wall and colour scheme.
The process
- Get in touch. Email sales@neilmcbrideart.co.uk with the subject, the size you have in mind, where it will hang, and any reference photos. Pointing to an existing painting whose style you love helps most. Include your phone number and address (at least your place in the world).
- Agree the brief. Neil replies, usually within one working day, to talk it through and confirm size, style and price.
- A deposit of 50% of the agreed price is required, paid by mutually agreed means before commencement of the commission. The balance is payable prior to shipping.
- Painting. Most commissions take 4–6 weeks from agreement. Progress photos can be supplied at a frequency to suit your preference. One set per week or two is usually sufficient.
- Delivery. Your painting is signed, dated and titled on the back, packed to museum standards and shipped free worldwide. A Certificate of Authenticity will be provided.
Sizes and prices
Medium sized deep-edged canvases 61cm square are £2600 unframed. Large sized deep-edged canvases of 91cm square are £3600 unframed. Framing to be quoted separately due to clients decor preferences.
Questions
Can you paint from my photograph?
Reference photos are welcome as a starting point. The finished painting will be Neil's interpretation in his own style rather than a copy of the photo.
Can I ask for a specific colour scheme?
Yes. Many commissions start from a room's colours. Monochrome and single-colour paintings are also possible; see the monochrome collection.
What if I don't like it?
This is highly improbable. Neil takes customer satisfaction seriously and will strive to deliver beyond your expectations.
