Frequently Asked Questions

About the Artist

Who is Neil McBride?

Neil McBride is a British artist based in North Yorkshire, UK. He has painted full-time since 2004, specialising in original acrylic paintings of crowds, landscapes, and townscapes. His work is sold directly through his website at neilmcbrideart.co.uk.

What style does Neil McBride paint in?

Neil McBride's paintings move freely between figuration and semi-abstraction. His work is intuitive and process-driven — compositions often begin without a fixed narrative, allowing imagery and meaning to emerge organically. His crowd paintings are particularly known for inviting multiple interpretations from different viewers.

What is Neil McBride best known for?

Neil McBride is best known for his crowd paintings — dynamic compositions depicting groups of people in public spaces, often viewed from elevated or mid-distance perspectives. These works have been a defining feature of his practice for over two decades.

Where can I buy original paintings by Neil McBride?

Ordering & Payment

How do I purchase an original painting?

Simply add the work to your basket and proceed to checkout. All major credit and debit cards are accepted, along with Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Each painting is a unique original — once it's gone, it's gone.

Are your paintings one-of-a-kind?

Yes. Every painting listed on this site is an original, hand-painted work by Neil McBride. No two are alike.

Do your paintings come with a certificate of authenticity?

Yes, upon request. Neil personally signs, dates, and titles every painting on the back. This is the artist's own mark of authenticity — more meaningful, and more permanent, than a printed document.

Can I commission a painting?

Non-prescriptive commission enquiries are welcome. Neil will not copy other artists' work, but you are welcome to commission landscapes and crowd scenes in any style currently published on the website. Please get in touch via the contact page with details of what you have in mind — subject, size, and any reference images — and Neil will come back to you directly.

Shipping & Delivery

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes — free delivery worldwide on all original paintings, to the UK, EU, USA, Canada, and Australia.

How long will my painting take to arrive?

Original paintings are carefully packed in bespoke packaging. Frames on paintings are crafted in the UK, often after receipt of your order. Please allow up to 2 weeks from order confirmation for dispatch. Once shipped, delivery times vary by destination — typically 2–5 working days within the UK.

How is the painting packaged?

Every painting is carefully wrapped and packed to museum standards to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. Bespoke protective packaging is used for all originals.

Do you deliver to PO Boxes or BFPO addresses?

Unfortunately not — courier delivery requires a full street address. UK non-mainland deliveries are subject to courier availability; please contact us before ordering if you're unsure.

Will I have to pay customs duties?

International customers outside the UK may be subject to import duties or taxes levied by their country's customs authority. These charges are not collected by Neil McBride Art and are the responsibility of the buyer. We recommend checking with your local customs office before ordering.

Returns & Refunds

What is your returns policy?

If you are not happy with a purchase from neilmcbrideart.co.uk for any reason, you can return it within 30 days of the order date. As soon as it arrives back with us, we'll issue a full refund for the entire purchase price.

Who pays for return shipping?

Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer and are not reimbursed. We strongly recommend using a tracked, insured service — original paintings are valuable and fragile. Paintings must be returned in their original condition and packaging.

Are sale items refundable?

No — items purchased at a reduced sale price are non-refundable.

Email sales@neilmcbrideart.co.uk to notify us before sending anything back. Returns should be sent to: Neil McBride Art, Field View, 22 Croft Heads, Sowerby, Thirsk YO7 1NG, UK. The full Refund Policy is linked at the bottom of this page.
