Heart abstract original acrylic painting on canvas

It's good to know what makes your heart tick.

The idea for this abstract heart painting came from memories of sports at school when each team wore coloured ribbons for identification.

I was in the red team which I really enjoyed being a part of so it seemed like a good idea to do a painting to mark the memory.

I am a painter so it was only natural that I should paint the whole thing by hand which took an age to complete.

I know the digital guys could produce the same thing in a fraction of the time but there was something quite satisfying and contemplative about the process of painting it. The brush marks add another human dimension to the art too. The hand and heart working in unison.
